The snow leopard is no longer an endangered species, but its population in the wild is still at risk because of poaching and habitat loss, conservationists.
Taking with Crazy News India, on snow leopard, the Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur says, ” In winters, Snow Leopard is being seen in the snow-capped mountains in Lahaul Spiti and has become a center if attraction for tourist.”
On its the decline population, Govind Thakur says, ” the number of snow leopards has increased from 80 to 100 in the state. Snow leopards have started seeing in the snow covered parts of Lahaul-Spiti and these days attracting tourist at heights.”
Earlier snow Leopard entered in the village and used to hunt domestic animals, due to this people start killing them but as time changes, now people are not killing them as many innovative methods are being made to protect them”.
The Forest Minister also added that the state government is also constantly making efforts in protecting Snow Leopard and for this people are also supporting us.
