A 19-year-old woman was found dead in the Theog area of Shimla district on Thursday in an apparent case of suicide, police said.
According to preliminary information, the woman was found hanging inside a toilet. Police reached the spot after receiving information, took the body into custody and sent it to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, for a post-mortem examination.
The deceased was reportedly working as a sanitation worker. Initial reports suggest that she had an argument with her mother shortly before the incident. However, police have not confirmed whether the dispute was linked to her death.
Officials said the exact cause of death will be established only after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation. Police are examining all possible angles in the case.
