DC appeals to take precautions even after the heavy rains stopped
Hamirpur 27 August. Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa has appealed to the residents of the district to exercise caution even after the period of heavy rains stopped. He said that due to heavy rains, most of the drinking water schemes have been affected due to excessive silt in the rivers and drains and despite taking special precautions regarding drinking water cleanliness by the Jal Shakti Department, there is a possibility of spread of water-borne diseases in this season.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to all the residents of the district, especially those living in Nadaun, Sujanpur and other areas around Beas and various ravines, to drink water after boiling or filtering it properly in this season. The Deputy Commissioner said that the people of many villages of Nadaun area have already become victims of water-borne diseases. So, they should take utmost care in this season.
The Deputy Commissioner said that many cases of snakebite also come to the fore in this season. Every year the number of such cases is very high in Nadaun area. He urged the people that if any case of snakebite comes to light in their area, instead of wasting time in exorcism or other tricks, they should immediately take the person to the nearest health center and get injected.
The Deputy Commissioner has instructed all block medical officers to make these injections available up to the primary health center level, so that immediate treatment of snakebite victims can be ensured. He said that the health department should be fully prepared to deal with water-borne diseases and all necessary medicines should be available in sufficient quantity in every health sub-centre. The Deputy Commissioner has also instructed the Jal Shakti Department, Health Department and Gram Panchayats to ensure regular sampling and testing of water.
