The Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) came alive once again on the second day of Parakram 2023, the annual sports extravaganza that brings together young athletes from various colleges and universities. This year, the event is witnessing a spectacular display of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship in a wide range of sports, including badminton, chess, basketball, cricket, football, table tennis, and volleyball, Teams from prestigious institutions like Chitkara Rajpura, IIT Ropar, Bahra University , Chitkara Baddi, UIET Punjab, and Doon Business College graced the event with their presence.
Teams from different colleges battled it out on the cricket field, displaying their prowess with the bat and ball. JUIT faced IGMC Shimla in a thrilling cricket match at Kandaghat Ground. JUIT batted first, posting a competitive total. In response, IGMC Shimla put up a valiant effort but fell short by 24 runs. It was an exciting contest that showcased cricket’s competitive spirit.The volleyball matches at Parakram 2023 were a showcase of power and teamwork. In a thrilling turn of events, the teams from JUIT and Chitkara University (Rajpura) have emerged as the finalists from boys and Chitkara University (Rajpura) and IIT Ropar have emerged as the finalists from girls.
The badminton courts were abuzz with excitement as players showcased their agility and finesse. Teams from different colleges engaged in intense matches, displaying their skills with the shuttlecock, but it was Chitkara University(Rajpura) and JUIT’s athletes from boys and Chitkara University(Baddi) and JUIT’s athletes from girls who qualified for finals.
The basketball and football matches were a true testament to teamwork and coordination. With fast-paced action on the basketball court and intense goalscoring action on the football field, Bahra University and Chitkara University (Rajpura)’s teams secured a spot in finals of football while the semi-finals and finals of basketball are to be held today. The table tennis matches were characterised by lightning-fast rallies and incredible reflexes, with the finals yet to be witnessed today, displaying remarkable hand-eye coordination and agility.
In conclusion, Day 2 of Parakram 2023 at JUIT was a day filled with fierce competition and sportsmanship setting high expectations for finals. The event was a testament to the power of sports to bring people together from different backgrounds and inspire them to excel. We applaud the participants, sports coaches Mr.Paras Gautam and Nisha Hooda, and coordinators of the sports club of JYC for making this day a success and look forward to more exciting sports events in the future.
