Shimla: 29th August, 2023

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN informed that SJVN has received separate Letter of Awards for executing three solar projects of 320 MW cumulative capacity from Assam Power Development Corporation Limited (APDCL)

Nand Lal Sharma apprised that SJVN participated in three separate tariff based competitive bidding tenders of APDCL for 50 MW, 70 MW and 200 MW solar projects. The 50 MW and 70 MW solar projects have been allotted at the tariff of Rs. 3.92 per unit and will be developed under the solar park category. Third solar project of 200 MW capacity has been allotted at the tariff of Rs 3.90 per unit and will be developed anywhere in Assam. All the projects shall be developed by SJVN through its wholly owned subsidiary SGEL on Build Own and Operate basis.

Sharma further informed that during the current financial year, the solar & wind project portfolio of SJVN has reached 5 GW mark. This is a significant step forward in achieving our ‘Mission 12000 MW by 2026’ and the Shared Vision of 25000 MW by 2030 & 50000 MW by 2040.”

Highlighting the benefits of the projects, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma stated that these projects are expected to generate 628 million units of green energy in the first year and the cumulative energy generation over a period of 25 years would be around 14,591 million units. Contributing to the ‘Net Zero by 2070’ target of the nation, the projects are expected to reduce 7.14 lakh tonnes of carbon emission on commissioning. An investment of Rs 1900 crores is estimated to be incurred on these projects which in turn will contribute to overall socio-economic development of the state.

These three projects of 320 MW cumulative capacity shall be commissioned in a period of 18 months from signing of Power Purchase Agreements and are expected to be commissioned by March 2025. The PPA shall be signed for 25 years with APDCL.

Earlier, SJVN had also signed an MoU with APDCL for developing 1000 MW floating solar power projects in the state by incorporating a Joint Venture company. SJVN is keen to be a key partner in the progress of Assam and development of the green energy of the state.
