The Central Government has made a provision of Rs 2716 crore for the railway projects of Himachal Pradesh in the budget of financial year 2025-26. The large amount of this budget will be spent on the construction of Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Barry railway line with strategic importance. Apart from this, adequate budget has also been allocated to Nangal Dam-Talwara and Chandigarh-Badi railway line. Also, four railway stations of the state will be developed as Amrit Station, which will provide modern facilities to the passengers.
On Monday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed Himachal Pradesh during the virtual press conference. He informed that other North Indian states including Himachal have also been given special priority in the railway budget. Under the Railway Budget, 50 new Namo India trains, 200 new Vande Bharat trains and 1000 new flyover and underpass are planned. Keeping in mind the safety of the railway, a budget of Rs 1,16,000 crore has also been proposed, which will upgrade the railway track and other infrastructure to the mission mode.
The expansion of railway network in Himachal Pradesh has always been a challenge due to the geographical conditions of the state. However, the central government is now working fast in this direction. The allocation of Rs 2716 crore for Himachal railway projects in the budget of FY 2025-26 is much higher than in previous years.
A large part of this budget has been kept for the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri railway project.
This project is considered to be very important from the strategic point of view as it will also facilitate the movement of the Indian Army. Apart from this, the works of Nangal Dam-Talwara Rail Project and Chandigarh-Baddi railway line will also be accelerated. The Chandigarh-Baddi railway line is being constructed especially to promote industrial activities, which will strengthen the trade between Himachal and Haryana.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed that four railway stations in Himachal Pradesh will be developed as Amrit Station. Railway stations will be modernized under the Amrit Station Scheme, in which special attention will be taken of state -of -the -art facilities, hygiene and passenger facilities.
