Himachal Desk. An incident came to light in Theog, Shimla, late on Sunday evening, when a drug smuggler escaped from the custody of Haryana Police. The accused has been identified as Pawan, a resident of the Samalkha area of the Panipat district of Haryana. Pawan is booked in Haryana under the NDPS Act and was brought to Theog in connection with the police investigation.
The incident took place in the Matiyana area of Theog, where the accused managed to escape by dodging the Haryana Police team. After absconding, Haryana Police immediately informed the Theog police station and started searching for the accused. A case has been registered in the Theog police station under section 262 of the BNS regarding this incident.
According to sources, on Sunday, Haryana Police reached the Matiyana area of Theog with Pawan, during which Pawan tried to escape from the police after getting the opportunity, and he managed to escape, and serious charges have been registered against him under the NDPS Act.
The police have started a search operation to arrest the absconding accused. DSP Theog Siddharth Sharma confirmed the matter and said that the local police team has been alerted and the search operation has been intensified in Theog and surrounding areas. Local residents have also been appealed to to immediately inform the police if they see any suspicious person.
