Snowfall has once again shown its magic in the valleys of Himachal Pradesh, and white sheet-covered scenes are being seen in the high altitudes of the state. Snowfall has continued since last night in the high-altitude areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Chamba and Shimla. Talking about the plains, there is rain and dense fog at some places. This snowfall and rain have also given a new level to the cold wave, due to which the mercury of half a dozen cities has gone to minus. The Meteorological Department has predicted more snowfall and rain in the state in the coming days. According to the Meteorological Department, 6 centimeters of fresh snowfall have been recorded in Gondla, 5-5 in Kothi, Khadrala, Kelang and Shilaru, 4 in Jot, and one centimeter in Kalpa.
Tabo of Lahaul-Spiti becomes the coldest place
Tabo of Lahaul-Spiti remains the coldest place at present, where the minimum temperature fell to -5.2 degrees on Sunday. Apart from this, the temperature is also below zero in other hilly and tribal areas. The mercury was recorded at -2.9 degrees and -1.2 degrees in Narkanda and Kufri of Shimla district, -2.8 degrees in Kukumseri, -2.7 degrees in Samdho and -1 degree Celsius in Kalpa. The minimum temperature in Manali and Shimla has also reached 1.4 degrees and 2.2 degrees, respectively.
Snowfall in high altitude areas in Kinnaur and Chamba
Fresh snowfall has been recorded on the high peaks of Kinnaur and Chamba districts. Kalpa in Kinnaur has received snowfall up to one centimeter, while snowfall continues in Chamba district. Along with this, there has been snowfall in high altitude areas and light rain in lower areas in Narkanda, Kharapathar and Chaupal of Shimla district.
National Highway-05 closed for traffic
The sky in the capital Shimla is still overcast today, and the weather is favorable for snowfall. There has been light snowfall in the upper areas of Shimla district. Due to snowfall, National Highway-05 (Theog to Narkanda) has been closed for traffic. However, Theog to Hatkoti (National Highway 705) is open for vehicles. State Highway-8 (Deha-Choupal) has also been closed for traffic. Efforts are on by the administration to clear the roads.
