Shimla
The pipes purchased for the irrigation scheme in Himachal Pradesh have come under investigation. After the case of one scheme came to light, now there is a possibility of laying substandard pipes in other schemes as well. These pipes were purchased during the tenure of the previous government. In such a situation, there is a possibility of using such pipes in irrigation schemes of many other areas as well. In such a situation, many contractors and officers can come under the purview of action. The situation is that many schemes in the state have come to a standstill before starting. Many pipes burst during the trial itself. Not only this, the chambers built for the irrigation scheme got uprooted.
Now people are coming out openly regarding the irregularities in irrigation schemes. This has been revealed by the water flowing in the broken pipes along with the testing of water in Kyaar-Kamah of Shimla. Engineers of the Jal Shakti Department are reaching the spot. Such negligence has been committed in other areas of the state as well. On the other hand, the superintending engineer and executive engineer of the Jal Shakti Department reached many villages of the Kyaar Kamah area on Tuesday. It was found on the spot that pipes were broken in many places.
In many places, instead of pressing the pipes, they were kept open. The chambers have also burst. In this scheme, 5- to 6-inch pipes are to be laid, but 2.5-inch pipes have been laid in between. However, the engineers who went to the spot have assured the people that new pipes will be laid after removing the damaged and broken pipes. This irrigation scheme will be started soon by the state government. On the other hand, Jogendra Chauhan, Chief Engineer of the State Government’s Water Power Department, says that a team has been sent to the spot for inspection.
