Ms. Sirina Kalia, an M.Sc. Biotechnology student from the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, has been selected for a fully funded Ph.D. program in Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina, USA.
Along with her Ph.D. stipend, Sirina has been awarded a teaching assistantship, a research assistantship, a full tuition fee waiver, and health insurance sponsorship. Sirina’s father, Mr. Rakesh Kalia, spoke with Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Head of the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, and mentioned that the Foreign Student Exchange Program provided excellent exposure, guiding Sirina toward higher studies.
Ms. Shivangini Singh, (M.Tech. Biotechnology) student at JUIT, got selected for a project under Prof. Ashwini Chauhan at Florida A&M University. This project is associated with the U.S. Department of Defense. Shivangini has also been offered a full Ph.D. stipend and tuition fee sponsorship. Her research will focus on microbial indicators of a healthy gut ecosystem, based on metaomics. Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Kumar Sharma, the Vice-Chancellor of JUIT, congratulated both students for their remarkable achievements.
