At the age of 87, veteran actor Manoj Kumar passed away away. At the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, he passed away. His patriotic films, like as Shaheed (1965), Upkar (1967), and Purab Aur Paschim (1970), made him a legendary figure in Hindi cinema. According to reports, Kumar had heart-related issues that led to his hospital admission. The hospital’s medical certificate states that “decompensated liver cirrhosis” was the secondary cause of death.
He received the Padma Shri in 1992 for his contributions to Bollywood and was later honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015. Known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his patriotic films, he also made a mark with classics like Hariyali Aur Raasta, Woh Kaun Thi, Himalaya Ki God Mein, Do Badan, Patthar Ke Sanam, Neel Kamal, and Kranti.
On Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted old photos of the iconic actor on social media. “Deeply saddened by the passing of legendary actor and filmmaker Shri Manoj Kumar Ji,” the prime minister remarked. An icon of Indian cinema, he was especially well-known for his nationalistic fervor, which was evident in his works. Born in present-day Pakistan, Manoj Kumar’s birth name is Harikrishan Giri Goswami. In addition to being an actor, he also branched out as a filmmaker. “I never intended to be a director in the first place. I became one by default when, during Shaheed I had to direct the film unofficially. Then Lal Bahadur Shastri raised the slogan of Jai Jawan Jai Kisan.
