Snowbound Tragedy in Himachal: Missing Brothers Found Dead in Bharmour

    Chamba, 26January

The snow-covered mountains of Himachal Pradesh have once again witnessed a heartbreaking tragedy. Two brothers who went missing from the tribal region of Bharmour in Chamba district have been found dead during a major search operation carried out with the help of an Army helicopter.

The deceased have been identified as Vikasit Rana and Piyush, residents of Bharmour. They reportedly left home four days ago to shoot a video near the Bharmani Mata Temple, but never returned.

    Bodies Recovered During Helicopter Search

According to officials, the bodies were located during an intensive aerial search after weather conditions slightly improved. A large-scale rescue and search operation had been ongoing for several days with support from the NDRF, mountaineering police teams, and local residents. Authorities also used modern drone technology, but no concrete lead was found earlier due to harsh conditions.

    Rescue Teams Faced Extreme Conditions

The area where the operation was conducted reportedly has four to five feet of snow, making ground access nearly impossible. Heavy snowfall, slippery slopes, and challenging weather remained the biggest hurdles for rescue teams.

Officials said the spot where the bodies were found is highly dangerous and difficult to reach. The administration is now focusing on safely bringing the bodies down from the remote terrain so they can be handed over to the families.

    Community in Mourning

As soon as the news was confirmed, a wave of grief spread across Bharmour and nearby areas. The families and locals who had been praying for the safe return of the brothers are now devastated by the tragic outcome.

Contact Lost After Video Shoot Plan

Reports suggest the brothers climbed further into the mountains while recording videos. Later, their phones were found switched off, and all contact was lost. After local attempts to search failed, the police were informed, leading to the launch of the official search operation.

    Further investigation is underway.

Dr.Janak Raj MLA Bharmour Chamba said “I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic demise of the two brothers, Vikasit Rana and Piyush, who went missing in the Bharmour area. This heartbreaking incident has left the entire region in grief.” I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls and give strength and courage to the family to bear this irreparable loss.
