    CM unveils bust of Mehar Chand Mahajan at Khaniara in district Kangra

    Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while addressing a gathering after unveiling the bust of former Chief Justice of India, Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan at Khaniara in Dharamshala today, said that “Justice Mahajan was a true patriot and whenever we will see this bust, it will remind us of his contribution for the nation and I hope, we all will be inspired by his legacy.” It was a matter of pride that a son of this soil rose to a high position when even the State had not come into existence, stated the Chief Minister.

    Elaborating further, Chief Minister said that Justice Mahajan was appointed as Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and played a key role in the accession of Jammu and Kashmir into India in October 1947. He was also an Indian National Congress nominee on the Radcliffe Commission that defined the boundaries of India and Pakistan.
    The Chief Minister commended the social work started by Justice Mahajan and the legacy that Vivek Mahajan, the grandson of Justice Mahajan, has carried on through the CII-MCM, Multi-Skills Training Institute, which is providing skills training to the youth of Dharamshala and nearby areas.
    There were about 6000 orphan children in the State and on the very first day after taking the oath and assuming the office of the Chief Minister, I assured to visit an orphanage at Tutikandi to get first-hand information regarding their upbringing, said the CM. “We took a decision that the government will provide festival grant of Rs. 500 to the residents of Child Care Institutions, Nari Seva Sadan, Shakti Sadan and Old Age homes so as to facilitate them to celebrate the festivals, like others”, said the Chief Minister. The State Government has decided to set up Chief Minister’s ‘Sukhashray Sahayata Kosh’ with an outlay of Rs. 101 crore, so that the facility of higher education could be provided to needy children and destitute women. He said that the State Government will bear the expenditure on skill development education, higher education and vocational training of such children. He said that he had contributed his one month salary towards this fund and other Congress MLAs have also agreed to contribute their one month salary.
    Earlier, MLA Sudhir Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister in his home constituency.

    Grandson of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, Vivek Mahajan also welcomed the Chief Minister and apprised him about various activities being executed by the Trust.

    AICC General Secretary Tajinder Bittu, Principal Advisor (IT and Innovation) to the Chief Minister Gokul Butail, OSD to the Chief Minister Gopal Sharma were also present on the occasion among others.

    Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur performed inaugurations and foundation stones of 19 developmental projects worth about Rs. 105 crore at Bhadoli Kutiyara in Jawalamukhi assembly constituency of Kangra district today.

    While addressing a largely attended public meeting at Jawalamukhi, Chief Minister announced opening of PWD Division at Jawalamukhi and Jal Shakti Vibhag Sub Division at Majheen. He assured that opening of a Nursing College through Temple Trust would be considered sympathetically.

    Chief Minister said that the world was adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only took timely decisions in the country to check spread of this pandemic, but also motivated the scientists to develop indigenous vaccines against this deadly virus. He said that a biggest vaccination campaign was successfully launched in the country under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government has ensured that each and every area of the State gets due weightage in matter of development, with special focus on the areas which remained neglected due to one reason or other. He said that the present State Government was also committed for welfare of all sections of the society. He said that on the other hand the Congress was always busy in their own development and neglected the poor and the downtrodden. He said that not even a single scheme was initiated by the previous Government, which could be remembered for a long whereas on the other hand the present State Government has initiated several welfare schemes for the welfare of every section of the society, he added.

    Chief Minister said that schemes like Sahara Yojna, Shagun Yojna, Mukhyamantri Grihini Suvidha Yojna. Himcare etc. have been virtually proving boon to almost all sections of the society. He said that the State Government has given special emphasis on women empowerment and upliftment. He said that the State Government has decided to provide 50 per cent concession in fare to women in HTRC buses and free power upto 125 units per month to domestic electricity consumers. He said that the State Government has also decided that free water would be provided in rural areas of the State. He said that welfare schemes initiated by the present State Government were not going well with the Congress leaders. He said that the State Government also made a record enhancement in the honorarium of various para workers. He said that daily wage of daily workers has also been enhanced by Rs 50 per day during current financial year which was a record in itself.

    Chief Minister also presented a sapling to parents of a girl child under the ‘Ek Buta Beti Ke Naam’.

    Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated Rs. 30 lakh Forest Rest House at Bhadoli, Rs. 3.28 crore Book Distribution Centre cum Guest House at Jawalamukhi, Rs. 95 lakh five rooms in Government Senior Secondary School at Jawalamukhi, Rs. 88 lakh additional accommodation in Government Senior Secondary School Lagru, Rs. 2.75 crore Lagru to Talli road, Rs. 1.69 crore upgradation of Balardu to Adhwani road, Rs. 5.05 crore upgradation of Kutiara to Triamblu road, Rs. 3.21 crore upgradation of Surani to Baggi road, Rs. 5.28 crore upgradation of Aghar to Kohlri road, Rs. 7.69 crore upgradation of Kathog to Adhe-di-Hattian via Sehopain Nagrota Lalwara road and Rs. 3.24 crore Silh to Gagruhi via Dareen Jangal road. He also inaugurated Electricity Division at Jawalamukhi on the occasion which would benefit over 1.84 lakh people of about 68 panchayats of the area.

    Chief Minister laid foundation stones of Rs. 55 lakh Forest Rest House Jouru Tal (Amb Pathiar), Rs. 17.50 crore improvement of distribution system of various WSS under tehsil Khundian, Rs. 5.60 crore providing functional household tap connection under LWSS Silh, WSS Khundian, WSS Gharna and Jakhnal in tehsil Khundian, Rs. 36.32 crore providing LWSS to Jawalamukhi Temple and its adjoining area, Rs. 1.39 crore Science Lab at Government Senior Secondary School Lagru, Rs. 2.42 crore Samletar to Koke via Kai road, Rs. 6.13 crore link road Langha Leahace via Rope to Mundal and Rs. 78 lakh veterinary dispensary building Ghallour.

    MLA and Vice Chairman State Planning Board Jawalamukhi Ramesh Chand Dhawala, while welcoming the Chief Minister, detailed various developmental demands of the area. He said that people of the State were fortunate that the State was today being headed by a simple and an honest Chief Minister who was endeavouring hard to make Himachal Pradesh frontrunner State of the country in the matter of development. He also thanked the Chief Minister for providing fifty per cent concession in State Transport buses to the women of the State, besides providing free water in rural areas. He said that several welfare schemes initiated for welfare of the poor and downtrodden have proved a boon for improving their socio-economic conditions. He also cautioned the people against the false promises and tall claims being made by AAP leaders. He said that the Congress Party on the other hand was a divided house. He said that the BJP would again form the Government in the State under the able leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. He said that developmental works worth Rs. 250 crore were going on in his constituency.

    Industries Minister Bikram Singh, Members of Parliament Kishan Kapoor and Indu Goswami, former Minister Ravinder Singh Ravi, District BJP President and Chairman APMC Sanjeev Sharma and State Convener Cultural Cell Karnail Rana were present on the occasion among others.
