The state government’s ambitious Mukhyamantri Sukhashray and Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojanas have emerged as a ray of hope for helpless children. This year, one crore 60 lakh rupees have been spent under these schemes in Solan district. This information was given here today by Deputy Commissioner Solan Manmohan Sharma.
Manmohan Sharma said that the state government is implementing various schemes for the welfare of destitute children so that these children can get timely assistance and earn better through their talent.
He said that under the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana being implemented by the state government, assistance of up to one thousand rupees per month is being provided to children up to 18 years of widow, divorced, deserted and destitute women and children up to 18 years of age of handicapped parents. Under the scheme, the annual income of eligible family members should be less than one lakh rupees. This year, under the scheme, financial assistance of 81 lakh 35 thousand 130 rupees has been provided to 1155 children up to 18 years of age.
The state government is also bearing the expenses for higher and professional education in government institutions for children aged between 18 and 27 years of widows, divorced, deserted, destitute women and disabled parents. Under the scheme, the annual income of the eligible family should be less than one lakh rupees. This year, Rs 2,53,946 has been spent on providing higher and professional education to 34 such children in Solan district.
Manmohan Sharma said that under the ambitious Mukhyamantri Sukhashray Yojana, an amount of Rs. 4,000 per month is provided to destitute, abandoned, forsaken and transgender children and individuals up to the age of 27 years whose annual income is less than Rs. 5 lakh. In Solan district, assistance of Rs. 42,63,294 has been provided to 187 such children. An amount of Rs. 2,85,650 has been provided to 17 children for higher education, vocational and skill development.
He said that Rs 16 lakh has been spent on the marriage of 8 destitute children. He said that the state government is providing Rs 3 lakh assistance to destitute children for building houses. Rs 13 lakh has been provided as the first installment of Rs 1 lakh for building houses for 13 such children.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the people to get complete information about these schemes and provide the information at the appropriate level to benefit the eligible children around them.
