    • Inaugurates newly constructed Sainik Rest House at Solan

     

    Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the State Level Maa Shoolini Fair in Solan yesterday.

    While congratulating the people of the State on the occasion, the Chief Minister announced to make State level Maa Shoolini Fair as National level event from next year to celebrate it in a more befitting manner. He said that Himachal being ‘Devbhoomi’ is a land of several deities with people having deep faith in them.

    Emphasizing the government’s focus on the common people, Sh. Sukhu said that the State’s budget reflects the needs of all sections of society and offers a glimpse into the future. He said that despite the economic challenges, the Government is striving to revive the State’s economy within the next four years. Himachal Pradesh is going through a transformation stage and it will take two to three years for the government’s policies to fully materialize, he said.

    The Chief Minister also paid obeisance to Shoolini Mata and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the State.

    He also launched the website of Maa Shoolini Temple and released the souvenir on the occasion.

    Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated Sainik Rest House at Solan constructed with an outlay of Rs. 3.15 crore.

    Deputy Commissioner Solan cum Chairman Maa Shoolini Fair Committee Manmohan Sharma honoured the Chief Minister with a Himachali Shawl and Cap.

    On the first cultural evening, Punjabi singer Jassi Gill enthralled the audience with his performance.

    Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, Chaudhary Ram Kumar and Sanjay Awasthi, MLAs Vinod Sultanpuri and Sudarshan Bablu, Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Sunil Sharma, OSD to Chief Minister, Ritesh Kapret, Mayor Solan Municipal Corporation, Poonam Grover, Mayor Shimla Municipal Corporation, Surender Chauhan and senior officers were present on the occasion amongst other dignitaries.

    Nauni varsity temperate carrot variety’s performance lauded at national level

     

    A temperate carrot variety developed by the Department of Vegetable Science of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni has been adjudged as the best-performing variety in the temperate group for showing consistent performance. The variety has even performed well in the Zone IV of the country comprising Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and parts of Punjab and Bihar.

    The variety – 2019/CART(T)/VAR-5, was developed in the year 2017 by Dr. Ramesh Bhardwaj Professor and Principal Investigator of Solan Center of ICAR’s All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Vegetable crops at UHF Nauni. Other members of AICRP Dr. Sandeep Kansal, Dr. DK Mehta, Dr. Kuldeep Thakur, Dr. Rakesh and Dr. Reena Kumari were also associated with the maintenance and mass multiplication of seeds of this variety.

     

    Dr. Ramesh Bhardwaj, Principal Investigator of the AICRP (Vegetable Crops) informed that the performance of the variety was highly appreciated and declared as the best-performing variety for Zone IV of AICRP during the 41st Annual Group Meeting of AICRP held at Srinagar recently. During the annual group meeting, a varietal identification committee declared the university’s carrot variety as the overall best variety in the country in temperate groups among various centres of the country. This variety will help in boosting the economy of the farmers of Himachal and other hilly states where it has shown appreciable results.

     

    Dr Sanjeev Chauhan, Director of Research of the university informed that the variety was mass multiplied and its seed was submitted for further testing and evaluation under various categories of varietal trials of temperate carrot through AICRP in the country. The University will register the variety with the ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources and the Central Variety Release Committee so that this variety can be recommended for commercial cultivation.

     

    Lauding the efforts of the scientists, Vice Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel said that the Solan centre of AICRP on vegetable crops has brought laurels to the university and has not only bagged the Best AICRP Centre Award in the country among 36 regular and 24 volunteer centres but the variety developed by the scientists has also been appreciated for its excellent performance. He added that there are very few open-pollinated varieties in temperate group of carrots and the hybrid seeds of temperate carrots are very costly. This variety being open-pollinated, it will also help small and marginal farmers of the country to take up cultivation in the country in coming years.

    अनुराग सिंह ठाकुर ने किया राष्ट्र स्तरीय होली उत्सव का शुभारंभ

    हमीरपुर 15 मार्च। सुजानपुर का ऐतिहासिक चार दिवसीय राष्ट्र स्तरीय होली उत्सव-2022 मंगलवार से आरंभ हो गया। केंद्रीय सूचना एवं प्रसारण, युवा मामले और खेल मंत्री अनुराग सिंह ठाकुर ने सायं लगभग साढे चार बजे सुजानपुर के ऐतिहासिक मुरली मनोहर मंदिर में पूजा-अर्चना और भव्य शोभा यात्रा के साथ उत्सव का विधिवत शुभारंभ किया।

    उन्होंने मेले में लगाई गई विभिन्न प्रदर्शनी स्टॉलों का भी उदघाटन किया। इसके बाद अनुराग सिंह ठाकुर ने शाम सात बजे दीप प्रज्जवलन के साथ होली उत्सव की पहली सांस्कृतिक संध्या का शुभारंभ किया।

    इस अवसर पर पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री प्रेम कुमार धूमल, जिला भाजपा अध्यक्ष बलदेव शर्मा, एचआरटीसी अध्यक्ष विजय अग्निहोत्री, हिमाचल प्रदेश कौशल विकास निगम के समन्वयक नवीन शर्मा, उपायुक्त देबश्वेता बनिक, एसपी डॉ. आकृति शर्मा, एडीएम जितेंद्र सांजटा, एएसपी विजय सकलानी, एसडीएम हरीश गज्जू, सहायक आयुक्त अपराजिता चंदेल, अन्य अधिकारी, नगर परिषद के पदाधिकारी और अन्य गणमान्य लोग भी उपस्थित थे।
