The role of youth in transforming the “Drug-Free Himachal” campaign into a mass movement is highly commendable, said Rajiv Rana.
Inspired by the “Drug-Free Himachal” campaign, Maa Shikari Youth Club Bharnot successfully organized a one-day cricket tournament at Tikkar Khatriyan in the Bhoranj Assembly constituency. Around 18 teams participated in the tournament, effectively spreading the message of a drug-free Himachal among the masses.
Rajiv Rana, Member of the Himachal Pradesh State Backward Classes Commission, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the players, organizers, and the gathering, he stated that if today’s youth actively engage in sports and positive activities, social evils like drug abuse can be effectively controlled. He emphasized that “Drug-Free Himachal” is not merely a government initiative but a collective responsibility of every section of society.
The final match of the tournament was played between Dimmi and Shishwan-11 teams, in which Shishwan-11 emerged victorious with an impressive performance. The chief guest felicitated both the winning and runner-up teams.
Appreciating the efforts of Maa Shikari Youth Club Bharnot, Rajiv Rana said that such events not only guide youth in the right direction but also serve as a powerful medium to spread anti-drug awareness in society. He urged that similar sports and social awareness initiatives should continue in the future.
Local panchayat representatives, social workers, youth, and a large number of residents were present on the occasion. Former NSUI President Bhoranj Amit Thakur, organizer Sandeep Chauhan alias Moni, former Panchayat member of Gram Panchayat Baloh, Abhishek Thakur, Saurabh, and Abhishek Jaswal were also specially present.
