Rohru police have arrested a person of Nepali origin with 108 grams of opium along the Patsari bridge. According to the police, a team of Rohru police, led by head constable Kuldeep Singh, was patrolling on Rohru Hatkoti road when a man carrying a black envelope was walking near Patsari bridge. On seeing the police team, the man panicked and started running back and was trying to throw the envelope, but the police patrol team caught the man with the envelope.
When questioned by the police, he revealed his name as Arjun Pal (37), son of Vijay Singh, a native of Nepal. When the police opened the plastic envelope held by the accused, they found 20 white-coloured and brown-coloured plastic packets inside the envelope. On the basis of smell and experience, it was found that the substance was opium and on weighing, the quantity of opium was found to be 108 grams. Police said a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
