Eye check-ups of 130 senior citizens were done in the camp.
Shimla, September 23. A free eye check-up camp for senior citizens was organized at the Civil Hospital, Junga, under the joint aegis of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Shimla, and the Human Welfare Service Committee, Karai Chaupal. The eyes of 130 senior citizens were examined at the camp, and 53 were found to have cataracts. A special camp will be organized again for their operations.
On this occasion, Tehsil Welfare Officer, Shimla, Satish Sharma, stated that camps are being organized for senior citizens throughout the district, in which, in addition to cataract eye disease, cataract screening is being conducted, as the likelihood of developing cataracts increases with age. He added that a free camp will be organized again in the coming days at Junga Hospital for the operation of senior citizens who have been found to have symptoms of cataracts.
He said that Dr. Garima, an ophthalmologist at Junga Civil Hospital, and Vikas, a refractionist at Dhami Hospital, performed excellent eye examinations on patients. He thanked Dr. Manoj Verma, the medical officer in charge of the Civil Hospital, and his staff, as well as Panchayat head Bansi Lal Kashyap, all the village heads from Balog, Koti, Peeran, and Bhadech, and local residents for their constructive support in organizing the camp.
