1186 farmers have purchased 35,445 plants in two days
The annual sale of fruit plants for gardeners continued on Tuesday in Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University, Nauni and the agricultural science centers and research stations of the university. Today was the second day of plant sale and a large number of farmers bought fruit plants.
Annual sale of fruit planting material on first come first serve basis before 11th December this year Sale of various fruit varieties from three nurseries in the main campus , Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Kandaghat , Rohru and research centers at Mashobra , Bajaura and Sharbo (Kinnaur) Continued.
On the second day, 404 farmers purchased more than 13121 saplings from various nurseries. So far, 1186 farmers have purchased more than 35,445 saplings in two days. Apart from Royal Delicious varieties, varieties like Z 1, Scarlet Spur 2 , Dark Baron Gala , King Rot , Mema Gala , Scheiniko Red Gala , Early Red One remained popular in apple. Fuyu remained very popular among Japanese fruits.
This year , more than 2.72 lakh saplings have been planted by the university and regional stations . About 50,000 clonal rootstocks of apple will also be available. During this sale, different varieties of apple , kiwi , pomegranate , apricot , peach , nectarine , cherry , walnut , pear , plum etc. are being made available to the farmers.
