Chamba.
The Himachal Pradesh government has started cracking down on officers and employees who were negligent during the natural disaster. In this sequence, action has been initiated by suspending two employees. It is believed that soon many others may also be punished.
Action taken on the order of the minister
On the instructions of Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, the Panchayat Secretary and Gram Sevak posted in Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district were suspended with immediate effect for being absent from duty. The administration says that being absent from duty in a serious situation like disaster is a betrayal of the public and it will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Bharmour ADM Kulbir Singh Rana said that the administration is making a list of all those employees who were absent from duty during the disaster period. Disciplinary action will be taken against such employees soon.
Honor to loyal employees
The administration has also clarified that the employees who perform their responsibilities with full loyalty in the hour of crisis will be honored by the state government. A separate list has been prepared for them.
The Revenue Minister said that serving the public is the first duty of government employees during a disaster. Running away from responsibility at such a time is not only an administrative crime but also a shirking of moral responsibility.
