Solan
On the occasion of National Deworming Day, on August 21, 2025, deworming medicine will be administered to children in 1077 schools and 1281 Anganwadi centres in Solan. This information was given by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ajay Pathak while addressing a training workshop organized in this regard here today.
Dr. Ajay Pathak said that on August 21, 2025, about 224,000 children of the Solan district will be given Albendazole medicine. He said that the purpose of feeding this medicine to children on a large scale is to keep them healthy.
The Chief Medical Officer said that National Deworming Day is organized twice a year in the months of August and February. On this occasion, all children from 1st to 19th year of age are given Albendazole medicine.
He said that on the occasion of Worm Day, children will be given deworming medicine along with being made aware about hand hygiene and complete cleanliness as well as prevention from diarrhea, anemia, and tuberculosis. He said that on this occasion, children will also be made aware about staying away from drugs and the ill effects of drugs.
Dr. Ajay Pathak said that children who do not come to school and Anganwadi centres will be given Albendazole medicine by Asha workers by going door to door.
The Chief Medical Officer said that stomach worms are the main cause of diseases like anemia and blood deficiency. By taking this medicine regularly, children are protected from such diseases.
He urged the participants present in the training workshop to make sure that they also feed the tablets given under the weekly iron folic acid program so that there is no iron deficiency in children. He said that lack of blood has an adverse effect on the physical development of children.
