Dhami Law University in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, a significant case of ragging and violence has been discovered. In this case, a junior student has claimed that his older classmates attempted to murder him in addition to beating him up. The victimized student then filed a complaint at the police station.
The victim, Aviral Pandey, a first-year student from Uttar Pradesh, has reportedly claimed to the police that the event began with him at approximately 1 p.m. on August 29. Students in their fourth and fifth years were searching his dorm for him at the time and threatening to beat him. They promised to settle the amount the following afternoon, but they were unable to locate him.
On August 30, around 1 pm, about 25 senior students gathered around him outside Marog Hostel. It is alleged that they surrounded Aviral and accused him of making indecent remarks to a student named Hiral Sharma. According to Aviral, this allegation is completely baseless, and he was attacked only for making an excuse.
The complaint states that during the assault, some students also tried to push him down a cliff. To save his life, Aviral took out a knife in self-defense, which, according to him, was snatched from a senior student earlier.
He was nonetheless intimidated and compelled to remain silent by the angry kids. The victim added that the accused threatened to ruin his career by falsely accusing him of violating the SC-ST Act if he reported to the police or raised his voice.
An FIR has been filed against Siddhant Singh, Rohit Chauhan, Prabhat Jain, Rohneet Jindal, Rahul Meena, Aditya Thakur, Priyanshu, and other unidentified students under sections 190, 191 (2), and 115 (2) of the Indian Penal Code, the police officer confirmed, citing Aviral’s complaint at the Dhami police station. The police have begun looking into the matter.
