A private bus carrying devotees returning from religious places on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima met with an accident. The accident took place around 2 am in Namhol area of Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, when the bus went out of control and fell into a ditch. In this accident, more than 26 out of the total 36 passengers on the bus have been injured, while 7 people are said to be seriously injured. Fortunately, no one lost their life in this horrific accident.
According to the information received, this private bus was returning to Shimla with devotees from Punjab. The devotees had gone on a pilgrimage to religious places on the special occasion of Guru Purnima. Late night, when the bus was passing through Namhol area, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, due to which the bus fell straight into the ditch on the roadside. There was a lot of screaming on the spot during the accident.
On hearing the sound of the accident, the nearby villagers reached the spot and started relief and rescue work without delay. The villagers immediately pulled out the injured trapped in the bus and after this, with the help of ambulance, all the injured were taken to the nearest hospital for first aid, from where the seriously injured were referred to AIIMS Bilaspur. On receiving information about the accident, the local police team reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
The condition of the injured admitted in AIIMS Bilaspur is now said to be stable. A special team of doctors is treating the injured. The police has started investigating the matter and efforts are being made to find out what were the reasons behind the accident. Police spokesperson DSP Madan Dhiman has confirmed the accident. He said that the police is collecting information about the people injured in the accident.
