During the meeting, Pathania said that the interest of students and youth makes the future of democracy look bright.
Shimla: Today, on 29th August, 2025, about 280 students of Post Graduate College Nahan, Government Senior Secondary School Summerhill, Dayanand Public School Shimla, Government College Jukhaala, District Bilaspur and Shaheed Ved Prakash Government Senior Secondary School Biachari observed the proceedings of the House and before that met the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly outside the Council Chamber and asked many questions about the parliamentary system, constitutional system, importance of the post of Speaker and role in the functioning of the House and powers of the Cabinet, which were answered in detail by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. During the dialogue, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly said that it is a happy moment that today’s youth and students are getting attracted to watch the proceedings of the House to know the parliamentary system and parliamentary process. This is the power of India’s democracy and it also claims to be the largest and strongest in the world.
Pathania said that Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha are the biggest temples of democracy from where the condition and direction of the country is decided. Pathania said that in the Constitution, only the Parliament and Vidhan Sabha have the right to make laws. Pathania said that we directly elect the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha members with our votes. The tenure of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha is 5 years, whereas the Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Parishad members are elected indirectly.
He said that the number of MLAs in Himachal Pradesh is 68 while the number of Lok Sabha members is 4 and the number of Rajya Sabha members is 3. Pathania said that today’s child is tomorrow’s leader and now the burden of the country and the state is on your shoulders. He said that we all must always remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters because if we are free today, talk about our rights, have our own constitution, it is due to their martyrdom.
On this occasion, Pathania informed them about the proceedings to be held in the House today and invited everyone to watch the proceedings of the House. Pathania left for Chamba district at 2:45 pm where he will take stock of the damage caused by heavy rains at ground zero and will motivate the administration to speed up the relief and rescue work and give appropriate directions. Pathania will reach Shimla from Chamba by helicopter on 1 September at 11:00 am and will be present to conduct the proceedings of the House starting at 2:00 pm.
