The Himachal Pradesh government has promoted three Tehsildars to the Himachal Administrative Service (HAS) based on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC). Those promoted include Sumedh Sharma, Ganesh Thakur, and Anil Kumar. Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta has issued the orders in this regard.
Along with the promotion, Anil Kumar has been given an important responsibility in the Chief Minister’s Office. He has been appointed as Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister. He will also hold the additional charge of Officer on Special Duty (OSD). Separate orders will be issued regarding the postings of Sumedh Sharma and Ganesh Thakur.
The promoted officers will receive a salary scale of ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month under Level-18. This promotion will be effective from the date of assuming charge. The government has clarified that these promotions will be subject to the final decision on pending petitions from 2008 to 2025, which are currently under consideration in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
IAS Rakhil Kahlo Resigns, Abhishek Jain Gets Additional Charge
Meanwhile, IAS officer Rakhil Kahlo has resigned a month before her retirement. She was due to retire on January 31, 2026, but has been appointed as a Member of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC). Resigning was necessary before joining the commission.
Rakhil Kahlo was currently serving as the Secretary of the Water Resources Department. She will now serve as a Member of the HPPSC for the next six years. Following her resignation, the government has given the additional charge of the Water Resources Department to IAS Dr. Abhishek Jain.
