Himachal Pradesh Council for Science Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE), Shimla celebrated 3rd day (24th Feb. 2022) of a week long program titled as Glorious Science Week – Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate at Centre of Excellence, Government Post Graduate College, Sanjauli, Shimla.
Today’s program started with Documentary (Vigyan par Aatamnirbhar) based on pre and post Era of Indian History covering the rich wealth acquired by Indians in the field of astronomy, health, agriculture, clothing, weapons etc.
The Program started with the lecture of Dr. Mahavir Khachi, Deptt. of Physics, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He gave lecture on the 2nd theme on Milestones of Modern Science & Technology under Glorious Science Week. He delivered lecture on Issues, Challenges in Nano Technology and bright future of Magnetic Nano World. He explained importance of Nano Technologies in our daily life in the field of Food, Health, Clothing and Transport etc. He explained how nanotechnology had existed since the evolution of the earth and also mentioned the applications of the technologies used in the epic Ramayana. He explained on Spintronics, big data, artificial intelligence, medicine targeted drug applications in the field of cancer. His special focus is to aware students on Current issues related to Toxicity, Electromagnetic Radiation, Clean water and soft Nano magnetic etc in the field of Nano technology. He explained the application of nano technology through examples from history till today. And suggested that use of mobile for more than 24 mins continuously is dangerous for health and one should avoids towers radiations (within 500m) effecting the skin, eyes, bones and fertility count, Neuro related disorders, etc. He informed that Shimla water storage is number one in Asia, referring to seog water tank. He shared his latest efforts done for environment purification through nanotechnology in Manali to save glaciers from melting due to heavy pollution created by tourists.
Documentary Screening Cyber Physical Systems, covering devices operating systems, dynamics, embed system, artificial intelligence, medical monitoring, etc applications. Dr. Helen Gill coined the term Cyber Physical Systems and her contribution was acknowledged in documentary. She made possible the work on Biomedical, industrial, computer sciences, engineering, aeronautics etc in collaboration under one umbrella to facilitate advance technologies.
Second speaker was Prof. S.S. Kanwar, Deptt. of Biotechnology, HPU Shimla. His topic was on Biotechnology driven processes and products. He explained about biotechnologies, types, importance in human life. He shared the contribution of Biotechnology in covid-19 management through medicine. He explained Bio technology brought a drastic revolution in the field of agriculture and horticulture giving highbrid fruits, vegetable, cereals with high nutritional values for people. Giving special focus on Himachal Pradesh achievements in the field of Bio technology, he said fermentation industry is evolved, fruits vegetable processing, unit planted, mega food park is created in Una district, Value addition – Organic certification is done for the development of the Himachal Pradesh.
