40 trainees of the ongoing training camp at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering, Manali conquered the 17600 feet high Friendship Peak. Trainees from across the country are participating in the 212th Advanced Mountaineering Training Camp of the 45th Trainee Institute. During the camp, experienced trainers of the institute are teaching all the tricks of mountaineering to the trainees.
This training camp is running from 30th August and will conclude on 26th September. Although this time the rains have affected the training camps of the institute also, the institute has tried to conduct the training camps despite the natural disaster.
Avinash Negi, Director of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mountaineering Institute, Manali, said that 40 trainees of the training camp successfully climbed the 17600 feet high Friendship Peak. He informed that a closing ceremony will be organized on September 26 in which the trainees who performed well during the training will be honoured.
He informed that the institute has been successfully conducting adventure activities like mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking, adventure camping, skiing, water sports, disaster management, mountain biking and mountaineering expeditions for decades. Till now, the institute has trained more than two lakh trainees from across the country and abroad in various disciplines of adventure sports.
