Shimla
From Wednesday onwards, just 50% of the doctors at IGMC Shimla and Super Specialty Hospital Chamiyana would be working in the OPD. Undoubtedly, all the doctors were in the hospital on Tuesday, but from tomorrow, half of the doctors will be on a week-long summer vacation.
IGMC and Super Specialty Hospital Chamiyana doctors are now on summer break. Half of the medical professionals who were denied leave in the first phase, which lasted from July 22 to July 28, went on leave and returned to work on July 29. The other half of the doctors will now take leave from July 30 to August 5. On August 6, these physicians will resume their duties, and the hospital environment will return to normal.
While the super specialty departments of Super Specialty Hospital Chamiyana have an OPD of around 500 and an IPD of dozens of patients, IGMC typically sees 3200 to 3500 OPD and 1100 IPD patients every day. Patients at these hospitals have to deal with issues when doctors take time off.
According to IGMC Principal Dr. Sita Thakur, half of the medical professionals supervise everything from OPD to OT in order to guarantee that patients do not have any issues while they are at the hospital. The situation will return to normal within a week, when the remaining 50% of the medical professionals return from their leave.
