The Economic Intelligence Wing of the Excise and Taxation Department has cracked down on those who do not pay GST in Himachal. The wing has handled 89 cases related to GST. Due to these cases, an additional revenue of 257 crore has been collected. The department has trained 400 employees and these employees have been thrown into fundraising. The Economic Intelligence Wing has played a major role in achieving the revenue collection target. This team of the department is investigating cases related to fraud in GST. E-way bill has also played a big role in achieving the revenue collection target of the department. In the e-way bill, the department has caught the evasion of revenue on a large scale and has worked to transfer this amount to the government treasury. After training the officers, the department has put them in the field and these officers have collected a revenue of eight crore rupees by checking about 13 lakh vehicles in the whole year. Revenue includes both penalty and tax. The vehicles that were checked and fined, were moving from one place to another carrying a load of more than Rs 50,000 without a bill. These vehicles were stopped for checking and after that the team of the department also imposed penalty and tax on the vehicles as per the prescribed norms. The highest number of e-way bills in the year has been generated in the months of August and October.
In these two months, one crore rupees each has been recovered by way of tax and penalty. Currently, the Excise and Taxation Department has checked 13 lakh vehicles during the nakas set up at different places. These vehicles were going from one place to another with heavy goods. On checking of these vehicles, massive violation of Eway Bill has been found. Significantly, the Excise Department has made e-way bill mandatory. Under this, if goods worth more than Rs 50,000 are taken from one place to another, then it is necessary to get the e-way bill deducted. Goods cannot be transported without this bill. On the other hand, State Commissioner of Excise and Taxation Department Yunus said that 400 officers have been trained across the state. Due to this training, 13 lakh vehicles have been inspected and the department has been successful in collecting revenue of eight crore rupees in this inspection. Also, the Economic Intelligence Wing of the department has caught 89 cases and an additional revenue of Rs 257 crore has been collected from these cases.
