Shimla: Before the beginning of the session, 90 students of the Department of Political Science from Himachal Pradesh University met the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kuldeep Singh Pathania at Gate No. 1 of the Legislative Assembly Secretariat at 10:15 am today. On this occasion, the students asked the Speaker about the proceedings to be held inside the House today and Pathania informed them about it. Pathania said that today is the non-official member working day and the four resolutions accepted for today will be discussed in the House, in which the first resolution will be discussed on sending a recommendation from the State Government to the Central Government to give the country’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna to the first Chief Minister of the state, late Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar. He said that a total of four resolutions scheduled for today will be discussed and the time of the House will remain till 5:00 pm only.
Addressing the students on this occasion, Pathania said that India is a country of 140 crore people and in terms of population, we are number one in the world. He said that today our country has the highest number of youth in the world. Democratic system is prevalent in our country and its federal structure includes the center and the state. He said that the future of the country’s democratic system rests on the shoulders of the youth. He said that the way today’s youth, especially students, are getting attracted to watching the proceedings of the House and the democratic system, it is pleasant and the future of the parliamentary system looks bright.
Referring to the Council Chamber, Pathania said that this magnificent building completed 100 years yesterday and has been a witness to many historical events. Pathania said that the gift of the parliamentary system is Vithalbhai Patel who challenged Frederick White in this very building and won by 2 votes and achieved the honour of becoming the first chairman of the National Assembly. During the dialogue, Pathania said that we did not get independence easily, behind this is the story of the sacrifices of thousands of our freedom fighters. Pathania said that time is changing and it is changing generation after generation. Today’s youth is born in the age of technology and in the future too, more changes will be seen in it, as a result of which life will be more pleasant and struggle will also be less. Pathania said that technology should be exploited for happiness, prosperity and development so that our country moves ahead with the world and the youth get employment opportunities so that uniformity, peace and goodwill remain in the society.
Pathania called upon the youth to contribute with all their might in making the country prosperous and powerful and to make a successful effort to strengthen the parliamentary system through their participation. He invited all the students to watch the proceedings of the House and extended his best wishes.
