NABARD celebrated its 44th Foundation Day in Chamiyan village under the Dharmpur development block of Solan district yesterday. The program was presided over by NABARD District Development Manager Ashok Chauhan.
Ashok Chauhan said that the objective of NABARD is to nurture activities in the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors, development of rural cottage enterprises, rural crafts etc. NABARD plays an important role in the prosperity of rural society and in increasing the income of farmers and women.
On this occasion, he gave information about various schemes being implemented in Solan district like Jeeva, Jalagam, Farmer Producer Organization etc.
On this occasion, a program ‘One tree in the name of mother’ was organized under the International Year of Cooperation. More than 90 trees of various species were planted in it.
A cooperative literacy camp was also organized on this occasion. So far, 05 camps have been organized in the district for the purpose of spreading cooperative literacy.
During this period, various activities being carried out by Chamiyan Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited such as cowshed, vermicompost unit etc. were observed and the progress of works under PACS Computerization Project was also reviewed.
