Padhar, August 27:
A joint committee of the Forest Department, Police, and Revenue Department was formed today in the SDM office in Padhar to stop the illegal cultivation of cannabis in the subdivision of Padhar.
SDM Surjeet Singh said that reports of illegal cultivation of cannabis are being received from various areas of the subdivision. Earlier also the administration had taken action on this, but now a joint committee has been formed to completely eradicate it and deal with it strictly.
Instructions were also given to the committee to uproot illegal cultivation of cannabis and submit weekly reports in this regard.
He also directed the police department to organize awareness camps in those panchayats where there are more cases of illegal cultivation of cannabis so that people stay away from addiction and understand the dangers caused by illegal cultivation.
The SDM appealed to the people of the area to stay away from illegal activities and adopt cash crops and natural farming, which would not only secure their livelihood but also save the society from the ill effects of drug addiction.
