An additional sum of Rs. 1.65 crore has been released for the repair of the damaged roads and bridges linking villages in the assembly constituencies of Chopal, Jubbal-Kotkhai and Rohru, stated Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, after his two days visit to apple belts of Shimla district.
After the meetings held with the officers in all the three assembly segments, the refurbishing of the link roads has picked up pace in these areas. The Chief Minister informed that Rs. 30 lakh per block has been allocated for the development blocks of Jubbal, Kotkhai, Rohru and Chauhara besides an additional amount of Rs.45 lakh has been released for immediate repair of link roads of 15 Panchayats of Balsan of Chopal.
“It is the priority of the state government to take to facilitate the orchardists and the farmers in transporting their produce till the Mandi’s and the concerned departments have been instructed to repair and restore the roads as soon as possible” said the Chief Minister. Before the apple season reaches its peak, a target has been set to repair all the link roads by 15th August so that the orchardists do not face any kind of problems, he added.
Sukhu reiterated that more than Rs. 110 crore has been released to the Public Works Department for repair of roads in apple-dominated regions of the state. He assured that the state government would not let the paucity of funds hinder the restoration of roads and bridges in the regions affected with heavy rainfall.
