All SDMs will monitor 24 hours
Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap today reviewed the damage caused by heavy rains in the district due to the monsoon. The Deputy Commissioner, along with all the Sub-Divisional Magistrates of the district, got information about the affected areas through phone.
He instructed all the SDMs to monitor the rescue and affected areas in their respective sub-divisions 24 hours a day due to monsoon. During the disaster, the administration should work towards implementing the relief work in the shortest possible time. He said that machinery should be deployed in advance in the areas where there is a possibility of more damage. He said that due to heavy rains, 04 people have died in the district on 1 September 2025.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all the essential service staff in the district is actively working in relief work. The officers themselves are monitoring the affected area in the field.
6 main roads, 261 link roads closed
On September 1, 6 main roads remained closed in Shimla district, while 261 link roads remained completely closed. Power supply has been affected in 722 DTRs and 278 drinking water schemes have also been damaged due to heavy rains. These include two link roads in Shimla rural, 6 link roads in Sunni subdivision, 50 link roads in Kotkhai, 87 roads in Theog, 15 link roads in Chaupal, 8 roads in Rohru, 20 in Rampur, 24 in Kumarsen, 01 in Dodra Kwar, 8 in Kupvi and 40 link roads in Jubbal.
Apple traffic should not be affected in monsoon, all obstructed routes should be restored soon
He also gave directions to all subdivisional magistrates regarding better operation of apple traffic. He said that no route should be obstructed in monsoon due to which apple traffic gets affected. He directed the Public Works Department to restore the obstructed routes as soon as possible.
Water and electricity supply should not be affected
The Deputy Commissioner directed to repair the water schemes affected by rain so that people do not have to face water problem. Apart from this, the water projects in which water supply has been disrupted due to silt should also be repaired soon. He instructed the department to ensure that people get timely and clean water supply. He instructed the Electricity Department to repair the electricity projects affected by rain quickly. Apart from this, he also instructed the department to pay special attention to the safety of its employees while working in the rain.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed all SDMs to keep the teams of Medical, Forest, Public Works, Jal Shakti Department etc. ready in their area so that any situation can be dealt with quickly.
