Art Beyond Boundaries
Shimla, May 22 2025
Auckland House School, Shimla, is proud to host a vibrant four-day Art Camp 2025 in collaboration with St. Thomas’ Girls Senior Secondary School, New Delhi, from May 19 to 22. This creative initiative brings together 11 enthusiastic students from St. Thomas’, accompanied by their dedicated faculty, and 12 members of the Auckland House Art Club in a shared artistic journey.
As part of this collaborative project, students from both schools are working side by side to transform the school’s walls and corridors into colorful expressions of creativity. Through graffiti, abstract murals, and conceptual art, they are collectively redefining their shared spaces, turning them into vibrant storytelling canvases.
The Principal of Auckland House School ,Smaraki Samantaroy expressed that such collaborations are valuable not only for artistic growth but also for fostering inter-school friendships, shared learning, and cultural bonding. She noted that initiatives like these broaden horizons and encourage young minds to appreciate diversity through creative synergy.
The visiting team from St. Thomas’ Girls Senior Secondary School, a prestigious institution founded in 1930 under the Diocese of Delhi, Church of North India, has previously completed several public art projects and brought both experience and fresh ideas to this joint endeavor. The team is accompanied by faculty members Ms. Meghna Ahuja, Ms. Shivali Nayyar, Ms. Meeta Singh, and Ms. Meeta Michael, whose guidance has enriched the experience for all participants. The school is led by Dr. Anuradha Amos, a visionary in education and the arts.
To further deepen the experience, the visiting students were taken on curated heritage walks around Shimla, allowing them to explore the town’s rich cultural legacy and colonial architecture. An engaging bonfire night was also organized, bringing together students and staff for an evening of music, laughter, and shared memories under the stars.
This camp has become not just an art initiative but a celebration of friendship, creativity, and community spirit — one that will leave lasting impressions on all involved.
