Shimla, March 28, 2026:
Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap has directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) in the district to conduct mandatory inspections of houses built under the Disaster Relief Packages 2023 and 2025 on March 29.
As per the instructions, all 12 SDMs will personally visit beneficiaries in their respective subdivisions and inspect houses constructed under the relief schemes. Priority will be given to homes that were completely damaged before assessing partially damaged cases.
During the inspection, SDMs have been instructed to upload photographs and submit on-the-spot reports to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Based on these submissions, a consolidated district report will be prepared.
The directions were issued during a review meeting of the disaster relief packages held on Saturday. The Deputy Commissioner noted that although financial assistance has been disbursed to most beneficiaries, construction of several houses is still incomplete.
He also emphasized accountability, directing Patwaris to maintain proper field book records of inspections for beneficiaries who have received funds. Strict action will be taken against officials failing to submit reports. Additionally, pre-construction and ongoing work photographs must be submitted to the revenue department.
The administration will also investigate cases where houses were reported as fully damaged but were only partially affected, ensuring that financial aid is distributed strictly as per rules.
A district-level meeting of all revenue officers has been scheduled for April 10, 2026, to review progress on relief and other revenue-related works.
