Shimla, April 13, 2026
The Himachal Pradesh government has declared April 14, 2026 (Tuesday) as a “Closed Holiday” across the state on account of the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the decision has been taken under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. The order was released from Shimla and comes in continuation of the department’s earlier notification dated October 23, 2025.
With this announcement, all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions under the state government will remain closed on April 14. The holiday will also be observed by banks and other institutions covered under the Act.
The notification, issued by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh, has been circulated to all administrative secretaries, heads of departments, universities, commissions, and other concerned authorities for necessary compliance.
The move aims to mark the significance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s contribution to the nation and ensure statewide observance of his birth anniversary.
