Shimla: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has directed district officials to prioritize the availability of departmental vehicles during VVIP and VIP movements to ensure smooth protocol arrangements in Shimla.
Chairing a meeting with officers from around 63 departments, the Deputy Commissioner asked all departments to provide details of their official vehicles and drivers to the Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order). The information will be used to prepare a roster so that vehicles can be arranged on short notice during VVIP visits.
He said the roster system would also ensure that the same officials are not repeatedly assigned protocol duty, thereby minimizing disruption to regular government work.
Kashyap noted that Shimla, being the state capital as well as a major tourist destination, frequently witnesses VVIP and VIP visits. At times when multiple dignitaries visit simultaneously, additional vehicles are required for protocol duties, making it essential for departments to provide vehicles promptly.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh also stressed that only government vehicles are used for protocol duties during VVIP movements for security reasons. He added that he has himself sent his official vehicle for such duties on several occasions and urged officers to cooperate with the district administration in such situations.
