Shimla, January 17: The Himachal Pradesh Revenue Officers Federation strongly condemned the brutal attack on a Patwari and a Kanungo while they were performing government duty in Kais, Kullu district, yesterday.
In a joint statement, Federation State President Narayan Singh Verma, General Secretary Vipin Verma, and Press Secretary Hemraj Sharma demanded that the government immediately arrest those responsible.
The Federation said similar incidents have occurred earlier in Chamba and Rewalsar (Mandi district), raising serious concern over the safety of Revenue Department employees.
Narayan Singh Verma stated that field duties like land demarcation and partition are highly sensitive. Revenue staff often carry out such work without any security, and disputes can turn violent if outcomes are not in a party’s favor.
The Federation urged the government to provide security during field operations to prevent such attacks and assured full support to Patwaris and Kanungos.
