He said that Indian athletes ended their Asian Para Games 2023 campaign in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China with a total of 111 medals including 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze. It is a matter of pride for us. This was India’s best-ever medal tally in a continental competition, surpassing the previous best record of 72 medals, including 15 gold, at the 2018 Asian Para Games. India had sent 303 athletes – 191 men and 112 women – to the fourth edition of the Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou from October 22 to 28, making it the country’s largest ever contingent to the continental event. Indian para athletes also broke three world records in Hangzhou. Gurjar Sundar Singh created a new world record by winning the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw-F46 event with an effort of 68.60m, while Sumit created a new world record in the Men’s Javelin Throw-F64 event with an effort of 73.29m. .
