Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Sangha of Charles Darwin University, Australia visited Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) with seven students of Bachelor’s and Master’s in the discipline of Environmental Sustainability. The main purpose of the visit was of social, cultural and academic exchange among students and faculty. The Australian contingent was welcomed by Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma and Registrar Maj. Gen. Rakesh Bassi (Retd.) of JUIT. The team visited the JUIT campus and different laboratories in the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. Dr. Kamaljit shared her expertise on environmental sustainability and economics where she highlighted the importance of natural resources. She also emphasized that the cost of natural resources should be accounted for by all the stakeholders and the profit margin must go to grass root workers. From the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Prof. Sudhir Kumar Head and the coordinators, Dr. Jitendraa Vashistt and Dr. Tyson arranged their visit in JUIT and later to Shimla. The team was appreciative of facilities and lab equipments present in department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The Australian contingent was amazed to see the beauty of Himachal Pradesh and also enjoyed the ride of a toy train from Solan to Shogi. The trip was conducted successfully and the teams decided to have further collaboration and mutual exchange in the field of environmental sustainability and Climate change.
