Day One Highlights Young Orators from Shimla’s Premier Institutions
Shimla, August 1
The 26th edition of the prestigious B.L. Modi Inter-School Elocution Competition commenced today at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, with much enthusiasm and intellectual fervour. This celebrated two-day literary event has brought together ten of Shimla’s most renowned schools, each vying for excellence in the art of public speaking.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Abid Hussain Sadiq, IAS, who lit the ceremonial lamp alongside the Headmaster of Bishop Cotton School, symbolising the beginning of this eloquent journey. The senior boys of the host school formally welcomed the participating schools, dignitaries, and the distinguished Chief Guest. They also introduced the audience to the event’s legacy, celebrating over two and a half decades of nurturing confident, articulate minds.

Day One was dedicated to the Junior Division, where boys and girls from Classes 4 to 7 competed in three engaging categories. Their performances showcased not only their command over language but also their ability to convey deep thought with clarity and conviction.

The event celebrated not only the winners but every participant who showcased courage and creativity on stage. The audience, comprising teachers, parents, and peers, was captivated by the energy and passion displayed by these budding speakers.
As the competition heads into its second day, anticipation is high for the Senior Division rounds. The B.L. Modi Elocution continues to be a platform that inspires young minds to speak up, speak well, and speak with purpose.
