In Himachal Pradesh, there has been a case of a child dying in the womb prior to the lady giving birth. Dr. YS Parmar Medical College and Hospital in Nahan is the subject of the lawsuit. Despite the fact that this case dates back to July 26th, it was only made public on Thursday after the victim’s older sister shared a video on social media. In this instance, she questioned the hospital’s and medical college’s setup, in addition to making grave accusations of staff malpractice surrounding her younger sister’s care.
This video is going viral on social media. In the video, the victim’s sister is crying and narrating the whole incident. Since the family was in shock after this incident, but now a written complaint is being made to the medical college management. Let us tell you that the victim woman belongs to Bhateuri of Jhakando Panchayat of Shillai, who had come to her sister Lakshmi Sharma due to being pregnant.
In a complaint sent by Paonta Sahib resident Lakshmi Sharma to the Principal of the Medical College through email, she accused the doctors of negligence and serious lack of health facilities. She told that her sister Chandrakala was admitted to Medical College and Hospital Nahan for delivery on 24th July. As per the advice of the doctors, she was given medicines to start artificial labor pain, whose first dose was given at 2 o’clock at night, the second at 6 o’clock in the morning and the third dose at 10 o’clock. After this, her sister continued to have severe labour pain, but even after enduring the pain for 10 hours, the dilation of the uterus did not exceed 2 centimetres. She alleged that despite the increasing pain, the doctors did not decide on a cesarean or other necessary treatment.
Laxmi Sharma claimed that despite the pain increasing at night, the delivery was postponed till morning, possibly due to the absence of a doctor. According to her, an injection was first given to induce labour pain, but there was a delay in performing a caesarean. The victim’s sister alleged that this gross negligence resulted in the tragic death of her sister’s newborn before birth. Several hours later, the family was told that the baby had died in the womb. The reason for this was said to be the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck.
“The doctors on duty went home at night. The tables in the labour room were broken. The 3-D ultrasound machine was not available. The most worrying thing was that the fetal heart beat monitor was also not working. Due to all these reasons, not only did our child die, but my sister also had to suffer a lot mentally and physically. This entire matter should be investigated immediately and appropriate action should be taken against the negligent staff and proper health facilities should be ensured for pregnant women so that such an incident does not happen with any other family in the future. The infrastructure of the hospital should be improved, as this is very important for the safety of future mothers and their babies.” – Lakshmi Sharma, sister of the victim patient
The video of this case was recorded by the complainant Lakshmi on the same day, 26 July, which has now been posted on social media. After which this video is going viral. After the video surfaced, the medical college has once again come into controversy.
