The fear of bears in Rampur, Shimla district, has people in a panic. The villagers (a woman and a man) were unexpectedly attacked by a bear that was hidden in the bushes in Dansa Panchayat of Rampur on Sunday. This attack caused significant injuries to both. After receiving first aid at the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Medical Complex in Khaneri with the assistance of locals, the physicians determined that they were in severe condition and sent them to IGMC Shimla.
According to Rampur police station, this incident took place between Karali and Thana village of Dansa Panchayat. Where, a person named Saranjan Negi was grazing his sheep and goats in the nearby forest. Meanwhile, a woman was cutting grass in the fields nearby. Suddenly a black bear came out of the bushes and attacked both of them. The bear first targeted Saranjan Negi and then attacked the woman. During this, both of them fought with all their might and started screaming loudly. On hearing the noise, the nearby villagers ran towards the spot. Seeing the villagers, the bear ran away from there.

The local people immediately rushed both the injured to Khaneri Hospital without wasting any time. According to the doctors of Khaneri Hospital, both the injured have suffered serious injuries and their condition remains worrisome. For this reason, they have been referred to IGMC Shimla. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the team of Rampur Police Station also reached the spot and registered a case. Also, the Forest Department officials have also been informed.

There is an atmosphere of panic in the area due to this bear attack. The villagers have demanded from the Forest Department that cages should be installed in the area as soon as possible and the bear should be caught and taken to a safe place, so that such an incident does not happen again. Local people say that, for the last few days, the movement of wild animals has increased in the area, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among farmers and cattle rearers. The villagers have appealed to the administration to ensure their safety and provide proper relief to the affected families.

Divisional Forest Officer Rampur Guru Harsh Singh confirmed the case and said, “A bear has attacked two people in Khaneri. The condition of both remains critical. Funds are being released to both under interim relief. Public safety department is the top priority and every possible effort is being made to get rid of this situation. Awareness and vigilance is the biggest defense in such times. People of the area should be careful and alert.
