The water level of Bhakra Dam has reached the danger mark. On Wednesday, its distance was on the danger mark of just one and a half feet. The maximum capacity of the dam is 1680 feet, while today it was 1678.10 feet in the morning i.e. there was a distance of one and a half feet from the danger mark.
Punjab Minister Harjot Singh Bains, while confirming this in Nangal himself, said that now the water has reached the maximum capacity. From Bhakra Dam, 4 flood gates were released by 7 feet first of water, which has now been extended to 8 feet. Thus about 75 thousand cusecs of water is being released from Bhakra Dam.
On the other hand, 57 thousand cusecs of water is being released from Nangal Dam in Sutlej Dariya, while 9-9 thousand cusecs of water has been released in both canals. After releasing water in the Sutlej, there has been continuous monitoring in the lower areas and sirens are being played for warnings. The Punjab government with BBMB is monitoring the entire situation. Officers are constantly registering a record of water influx and information is being given at a high level. If the maximum capacity of Bhakra Dam is full, then the lakes built under it are also filled with full. Most parts of the Gobind Sagar lake which were usually out of water are also submerged.
