Solan, December 13
Bazm-e-Kavya, the literary club of Shoolini University, organised the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav Poetry Competition at the Cineplex to honour Mahakavi Subramania Bharati and celebrate India’s linguistic and literary heritage.
The event featured 14 participants, two judges, and 10 faculty members. The programme began with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by Ms. Aditi Jamdagni. The President of Bazm-e-Kavya, Mr. Areeb Aftab, welcomed the audience and introduced the competition’s rules.
The participants presented poems in various languages, with Ms. Namita Saini delivering a heartfelt performance that resonated with the audience. The Secretary of Bazm-e-Kavya, Ms. Asshee Sharma, concluded the competition with a moving poem.
Judges Dr. Tej Nath Dhar and Ms. Priyanka Thakur evaluated the performances. Faculty members including Dr. Purnima Bali, Dr. Ekta Singh, Dr. Prakash Chand, Mr. Hemant Kumar Sharma, Dr. Kamal Gautam, Dr. Babu Sundaram, and Prof. Neeraj Gandotra were present to encourage the participants.
Chancellor Shoolini University Prof P K Khosla, praised Bazm-e-Kavya for promoting literary talent and cultural appreciation. He highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting linguistic diversity.
The results were announced by Dr. Tej Nath Dhar. Ms. Rafiya Aman (BBA 2nd Year) won first place, while Mr. Ujjwal Kumar (B.Pharma 2nd Year) secured the runner-up position.
Prof Khosla presented trophies to the winners and certificates to all participants. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to faculty members in recognition of their contributions.
