The matter echoed in the assembly, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur demanded action against Khalistan supporters.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said: Will talk to the Punjab government, action will be taken against those who spoil the atmosphere. A new dispute has started between Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, raising concerns about the law and order of the state. The matter arose when incidents of pasting Bhindranwala’s posters and raising slogans in support of Khalistan came to light on Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses. The issue was raised vehemently by Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Assembly Jai Ram Thakur. He alleged that Khalistan supporters from Punjab are trying to spoil the atmosphere in Himachal.
The dispute started from Manali, when some Punjabi tourists arrived with posters and banners of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala. Kullu police and locals objected to this and took immediate action. After this, in retaliation, some Bhindranwala supporters from Punjab pasted his posters on Himachal buses and showed swords to scare the drivers.
On this issue in the assembly, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that no one will be allowed to spoil the atmosphere in Himachal. He said that talks will be held with the Punjab government in this matter and strict action will be taken against the miscreants.
Security experts believe that such incidents can create tension in the relations between the two states. There may be a conspiracy to affect the peaceful image of Himachal, so the administration needs to be alert.
