The police have made significant progress in uncovering a large gang in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. In addition to apprehending three Punjabi suspects, the police also found a handgun and eleven live rounds in their hands. On the basis of a tip regarding drug smuggling, the police initiated this step. Although the defendants were not discovered in possession of narcotics at this period, live ammunition and firearms were unquestionably seized. According to reports, they are part of a large Punjabi gang, and the police have begun looking into their connections in an effort to determine what crime they committed here.
The evidence indicates that the case pertains to the Boileauganj police station in the Tutu neighborhood. On August 15, the police’s SIU team was at Tawi Turn. It learned at this period that three young people were operating a narcotics enterprise out of the first floor of Babu Ram Bhawan in Tutu. The police squad stormed the location in front of impartial witnesses as soon as they received the information.When the police reached the room, three youths were found present there. During interrogation, they identified themselves as Gurjeet Singh (27) son of Sardar Singh, resident of Muktsar (Punjab), Pradeep Kumar alias Sukha (24) and Jagpal Singh (27) resident of Abohar, district Fazilka (Punjab). When the police searched their room, a pistol and 11 live cartridges were recovered from there. The police took the accused into custody after seizing the weapon and cartridges. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a case has been registered under section 25(1)(A) of the Arms Act at Boileauganj police station.
According to SSP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi, this action was conducted in response to intelligence regarding the smuggling of chittas; nonetheless, a revolver and eleven live rounds were discovered in its place. They belong to a large Punjabi gang, according to the preliminary inquiry, and their local connections are being looked at here. The source of the weapon and live ammunition is also being extensively investigated by the authorities. Investigations are also being conducted on their links and narcotics network in Himachal. According to him, questioning the accused might yield a lot of crucial information. This will expose the smuggling network for weapons and drugs.
