To boost the tourism sector in Himachal Pradesh, the Bijli Mahadev Ropeway in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh has received permission under the Forest Conservation Act. The ropeway costs around 283 crores and will be 2.33 km in length.
The residents of Kharal and Kashawari valleys of Bijli Mahadev are protesting against the setting up of the ropeway, but despite this, the ropeway received clearance from FCA. The ropeway is to be built along the Nature Park Mohal on the banks of the Beas River. Earlier, one has to travel 25 km to visit Bijli Mahadev. With the construction of this ropeway, 36 thousand tourists will be able to visit Bijli Mahadev in a day.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur said, “We have full faith in Dev Parampara, but politics is not acceptable in the name of Dev Parampara.”
