Bilaspur
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur will develop a robotic surgeon from 2026. After Delhi AIIMS, Bilaspur will become the second health institute in the country to develop a robotic surgeon. The process will start soon. In addition, in the next six, MBBS, MD, and DM have been targeted for training at the High Fidelity Famolition Lab. Most of the equipment has already reached AIIMS.
From this month onwards, doctors and paramedical staff of Army, BSF, CISF will be trained under the Panch Pran scheme of the Central Government at AIIMS. Earlier they used to visit AIIMS Delhi but now faculty from Punjab and adjoining states will come to Bilaspur AIIMS. Training will be imparted in skill labs. They will be imparted training on lifesaving conditions along with trauma. The robotic surgery lab will be started in Bilaspur AIIMS by 2026. The AIIMS management aims to train MBBS, MD, and DM under the High Fidelity Fusion Lab in the next year. The training will begin in six months. The cost of the robotic lab is about Rs 15 to 18 crore.
Robotic surgery is performed in many private and government health institutions in the country. But to train it, experts had to first go abroad. About a year ago, AIIMS Delhi started its skill lab for training. It is now planned to start at Bilaspur AIIMS by 2026. The aim is to set up a surgical robotics training center by the end of 2025. After this, surgery will be done with a robot. Apart from AIIMS, doctors from other hospitals will also be able to train.
According to experts, the patient’s recovery will increase by this procedure. The patient can return to work soon after the surgery. Experts from various departments, including surgeons, gynecologists, urologists, general surgery, ENT, orthopedic, cardiothoracic, and neurosurgery, will be imparted surgery training with the help of robots.
